Similana Resort Reviews & Ratings

Spending an average of 5 months per year in Siam I have been to quite a large variety of hotels, guest houses, bungalows, etc... Similana Resort ranks in my personal little book as one of the very nicest places of all. Having read several reviews prior to my going there and being slightly handicapped (2 plastic hips, and badly worn out knees), I was a bit worried about the numerous steps others reviewers had written about. Well it turned out to be no problem at all. Yes there are quite a number of steps from the beachfront bungalows to the reception and to the restaurant, but thy are fairly gentle type of steps, besides all our luggages were taken down to the bungalow by a staff member on one of those motorbike with a sort of side cart attached to it, and a bit later I just rented a small bike myself (a real must if one wants to investigate the neighboring countryside a bit. The hotel restaurant is a bit on the high side price wise, but the food there is excellent and served in large portions unlike in most Thai restaurants. The reception internet connection is extremely slow and totally overpriced (50B. minimum charge, + 2B per minute) better go 5kms to Ban KUKAK where are several ADCL connections ranging from 40 to 60 baths per hour.
