Sugar Palm Resort Phuket Kata Beach Reviews & Ratings

I am really impressed with their service, especially the baby palm restaurant, there is always someone serve you around quickly. It's very interesting that their uniforms' color were different everyday.

Their staff are really nice, one of my friend was sicked, and need to stay in hospital before the day we check out, so we must check our late, and the staff was really considerate to delay our check out time.

The Location is very good for those who like to go to Kata Beach in just 2 minutes by walk as it's located in the Kata town center. And there are many restaurant and convenient shop around the hotel. However, the bed is quite hard and uncomfortable.

Very friendly place and very handy to everything in Kata. Kata is definitely the place to stay in Phuket if you simply want a relaxing time away from the parties and nightlife. Great beach and great restaurants. Sugar Palm was fantastic and the rooms were spotless.

Stayed here from 3rd till the 6th of July 2008. Came with 5 friends, 2 rooms. Had a welcoming atmosphere once we reached. Checking in was smooth. We're a bunch of outgoing guys, so we didn't expect much from the start.

It was a beautifully decorated hotel. 3-4minutes walk from the beach. Although through our 4 days stay there, we found Patong beach to be more lively than Kata beach. But still, Kata is a relaxing place, away from the hassle of Patong, very suitable for families and couples.

Amenities were excellent. From shopping, dining in, money changer, everything can be easily reached here. If you walk further down south of Kata road, you'll find a lovely restaurant,Mai That & Restaurant, for that authentic thai cuisine, and a warm service from the owner himself. A dinner for 6 cost us only ard 1300Baht. Very good dinner.

Towards the north, you can reach Karon in 15mins walk. Outside of the hotel you can find a good massage place - Lucky Friend massage. We became acquaintance to the fellow masseuse, even giving us nicknames to remember us better, as we came back to them after a long day out for 3 straight nights. The hotel rooms are great, bath, shower, a balcony overlooking the pool. But be sure to close the doors at night. Mosquitoes. Lots and lots of them. DVD rental should be made available 24hrs. They closes at 8pm. We tried to order room service at 10pm but not available. Basically the stay was good. Had a great time in Phuket.

Location is very convenient esp it's only 5 mins walk to the beach, several cafe just right outside the hotel.

Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast selection is good. Environment is pleasant for families with young kids. Not as rowdy as Patong Beach area. Safe to stay in even if you are traveling on your own.

The only draw back is that they have a fixed shower head right at the ceiling which makes it difficult to bathe. And the water needs time to heat up.

Otherwise, all is good!

Good location, excellent value for money. Only one regret: they are very strict regarding checkout time, customers have to pay 200 THB per extra hour. Breakfast is basic. The nearby restaurant, Mali, serves decent meals. Very useful : free DVD library, internet for free.

This hotel was the best! You have everything near buy, a great seafood restaurant. The best food we have eaten in Phuket! You have a wonderful SPA at the hotel so you could not ask for more. We lived in a Pool access room which I recommend, the beach is just across the road, maybe 50 meter.

From the beginning or our trip to Phuket we planned to move around Phuket to experience more places, but we liked the Hotel and the place that we stayed here all trip!

Love the hotel - big room, nice and clean, friendly staff. Very convenient location, a few minutes walk to the beach, shops and restaurants. Bus stop to town is also nearby. Hotel also provide free internet. Will definitely come back again.

We really cannot wait for go back to this Hotel. I also heard that now they also have Sugar Palm at Karon Beach, it' s also very nice.

I came to Sugar Palm (Kata Beach) for the 2nd time and it' s still very nice. This year Wi-fi internet is complimentary and also DVD library set in the room. Almost facilities is complimentary for us.

I will exactly go back to this hotel.

We paid for a pool view room, but ended up with a dim room overlooking the road (when we complained they said without making eye contact "some pool view room do not have pool view" hmm). Also, the toilet stopped working straight away and we had 4 staff members in there trying to fix it and laughing at our misfortune but to no avail. They refused to move us until I asked to speak to the manager who then miraculously found another room.

We spoke to some other people who'd had problems with their toilet as well and had also found staff unhelpful. The next night, reception rang all the rooms to tell everyone not to use the toilets for at least 3-4 hours as they had "big toilet problems". Yuck! The staff spoke very basic English and were mostly quite rude. But once I had met the manager (who was very unhelpful and nasty), I didn't really blame the poor staff for not looking like they enjoyed their job!

The elevators had posters in them advertising 90BT cocktails... which didn't exist. We turned up during happy hour and were told that cocktails were 150BT and that the sign was old but they kept it up to get people to come to the bar. The pool wasn't as nice as was what it looked like on the internet but at least it was clean (but absolutely freezing due to the shade).

The only good thing was that it only took 5 minutes to walk to the beach. I stayed here because I'd read good reviews on this site, and was incredibly disappointed. I would never stay at this resort again- and would recommend that people only stay here as a last resort if they can't find anything else in Kata.

Paying good money doesn't mean you'll get good service (or a good room as we found out!).
