A nice relaxing experience.
by Dave Warren from Thailand, 4 Aug 08
Whilst there was construction in progress at the hotel, it didn't bother us at all and we were not disturbed by it in any way. The rooms seemed to block out all noise which I thought was really good. The outside shower was a nice touch I thought. We had the room with the private jacuzzi. The hotel is only a short walk to the beach, maybe 2 min.
One improvement could have been the bed. It was a little hard for my liking. Overall, for the money, it was a good choice.

Choose another Hotel!
by SILLETTA MARIANA from AARGAU, Switzerland, 24 May 08
The pool is very small. For everything, like you need a taxi before 10 a.m. or you like to book a trip you have look by yourself. I will definitely book another hotel the next I go to Phuket.

Very Nice Hotel and Staff
by Todd Pribanic from Portland, Maine, 10 Jul 06
The location is good if you want to get outside of Patong and check out some other areas of Phuket like Karon and Kata beach or go to Chalong Bay and rent a long boat. I rented a jeep and found the location excellent for both Patong where there is more nightlife as well as driving to other locations of Phuket.
The beach is located less than 100 yards from the hotel. There are many excellent restaurants and bars in Karon as well. Areas of improvement could be the Internet access as you only have it in the lobby and it went down quite frequently. It is also somewhat expensive at 300 THB for 1.5 hours and they would not refund me for not being able to use my card due to the Internet being down.
The breakfast is very basic American and the same every day (eggs, bacon, ham and toast). Service was very good. Overall I would rate this hotel very good and would stay there again.

Not 5 star but definately more than what i expected!
by Gina from Singapore & Australia, 27 Jun 07
The first time was 2 years ago, and I was staying in the Spa Deluxe. The room is a standard room size, with a huge Jacuzzi in the balcony, which can take up to 4 average sized people (or 2 really big people).
The second time was a few days ago, and I was staying in the Jacuzzi Suite. The front yard is a decent size, with an outdoor jacuzzi that can take 2 average sized people comfortably. The room is spacious, but the bed is facing the door directly. Some might not like the positioning of the bed. Behind the room is a huge toilet with a bath tub. After the toilet is an open-air shower head. The entire set-up is very nice and unique. The room design is trendy.
The location of the Old Phuket Hotel is quite good. It is along Karon Beach, near to the eating places but quiet at the same time. Just outside the hotels are some massage palours and a few quiet restaurants that sells thai food, italian food, danish sandwiches, etc.
A few downers. The room flooring is made of cement, so not exactly luxurious. There is no hot water for the jacuzzi in the front yard and the open air shower head have a portion that is not entirely covered. Patrons of the hotels next to Old Phuket might catch a glimpse when you are getting from the out door shower to the bath room.
The hotel itself have minimum facilities. If you are looking for a fancy pool, gym, tennis court or over-priced Italian restaurant, this is not the hotel. If you are looking for a nice location and comfortable beddings with unique yet affordable concept (Jacuzzi in your room), this is the hotel that you should be looking at. All in all, it is a lot better than expected, especially for the price (Baht 2430/night) i paid.

2nd visit in 11 months !!
by G.MASKELL from ESSEX, United Kingdom, 10 Dec 07
The Old Phuket Hotel has a buffet style breakfast and the staff are very helpful. The rooms have a hairdryer and tea making facilities. The hotel also provides beach towels. Anything to help make the luggage lighter !!. If you travel on a budget airline to Phuket from Bangkok the luggage allowance is only 15Kg.
This is our 2nd visit to this hotel and I took my parents who are in their early 80's they also enjoyed themselves, the age range at the hotel was toddler to O.A.P. The hotel is located 3 minute walk to the beach. Bars and restaurants are nearby.(2minutes)

We will go back
by Henrik Olsen from Denmark, 25 Feb 08
Only minus was that the private spa on our balcony had old water in the pipes which gave a very bad smell when we tried the spa. We did that only one time
