Purimas Beach Hotel Rayong

My sister and I stayed at Purimas Beach between 19 and 22 March 2007 (we cut our stay a day short out of boredom). The hotel was lovely as it was only on 4 floors and not a huge, towering monstrosity. It had a lovely feel and was set in a beautiful beach side location. The pool was also great and well maintained. The staff were polite and helpful and the hotel was clean. However, it really is in the middle of nowhere. If the hotel had provided a free shuttle service to Ban Chang, that would have been something, but you have to get a taxi (not much to be fair, approx 400 baht return). Ban Chang was about 20 minutes or so away, but Rayong, which was larger, was at least 1 hour away and this will cost you 3000 baht return. This would not have been so bad if the hotel had provided some entertainment but, apart from a middle of the road pianist in the evenings, there was absolutely nothing. So, on the one day that it rained, we filled our time with going to the gym and the spa. If you're looking for somewhere to mediate, this would be good. All in all, I can’t say I would return; I’m not a party animal but I would look for somewhere similar in size and location but with a slightly more lively atmosphere.
