The best hotel in Thailand

by Hori from Japan, 5 Aug 08

Ruean Thai Family are very helpful. The service was great! I stayed there 2 nights in the room around the pool. There are TV, Hot Shower, A/C in the room.

4 rabbits always show up around the hotel. I had learn Thai food in cheap price.

A mixed bag

by Anonymous User from Queensland, Australia, 29 Oct 08

This place is down a back alley into a residential area that makes you want to run home as evening approaches. The staff were willing to drive us around- but for us walking is the way. It's in town - and close enough to walk to markets or to the motorbike hire for a daytrip into the old capital ruins. (Don't get suckered into the pushbike alternative - WAY too big an area!)

The pool area and restaurant (which hosted a local band rehearsal while we were there -very nice!) are lovely, but the room we stayed in was tiny, a thrown-together mix of furniture with blankets pegged up at the windows. Seemed odd until the glaring fluro pool lights outside kept us up all night!

On the good side - the band of ladies who washed our clothes managed to get out every tiny bit of travel grime (and a few stains that had been there for years!)
Food was nice too, but get in early for breakfast - cos it's served once then exposed to industrial airconditioning until closing.

Wonderful service creates a relaxing holiday

by hem patel from Thailand, 17 Nov 08

A very enjoyable stay. Made to feel very comfortable at all times. The staff were excellent could not do enough for you. The management team led by example being highly visible and wanting feedback. The food is very good, the breakfasts were varied and fresh. The location is a little way from some of the island's activities and if you have small children the steps can be daunting.

We would not choose to go back

by Mr. Peter Kleeli from Swiss born, since 25 years in Thailand, Thai wife and son, 3 Jan 07

Signature to find the Hotel fairly small, when arriving by Car. Car Park at the Hotel, which was fully booked, too small to accommodate all the cars, and nearby Soi (Street) leading to the Hotel is too narrow to park cars. Check in was speedy and staff was helpful.

Having booked 1 out of 2 advertised Deluxe Rooms with a more expensive price tag (all Rooms with TV advertised as well), found the room spacious and easy to accommodate 3 persons or 4. Nice authentic Thai Style furniture, good king sized beds, however no TV. Asking the whereabout of the TV, staff informed us, that no TV's would be installed in the Deluxe Rooms (higher priced then standard rooms, which do have TV's) due to the fact that the 2nd Deluxe Room would be next door, and the noise of the TV would disturb the other occupants of the 2nd Deluxe Room, which also would not have a TV. Why the big fuss about the TV?....well, firstly it is advertised to have TV's in all Rooms, you pay far more than a standard room, but get less value for money, and spending a night or more in Sukhothai can be pretty boring, if you are new in town, which has little outings for mid-aged westerners. The food ordered took rather long to be served, and the taste of Thai Food was fair. Smell of "dead" water from a Fishtank located inside the Restaurant, old Chinese Cabbages leaves laying around the area given to the many Rabbits hopping around the place, which is adjacent to the temporary Lobby, due to construction works, did not improve the general satisfaction of having an tasty meal in a cosy atmosphere.

Overall a pity to have a nice made up Hotel, taken care of in a losses way. Perhaps acceptable for some, not for us anymore.

Excellent place to stay

by Feddy Smith from England, 5 Jan 07

Excellent place to stay, I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. I was impressed by the service on the first day I arrived. They're so helpful and friendly to all my families. My sons love a little rabbit so much. I chose to live in superior room next to the swimming pool. Wonderful room and authentic Thai style, guarantee.

I will come back again!!!

by Monica from Netherland, 16 Feb 07

I stayed at Ruean Thai Hotel for 3 nights. It's a very nice family-business hotel. I never felt like a stranger when staying there, coz they treated us like one part of their family. The hotel is very quiet and not too crowded, coz it was located on a small road in the city. Lovely hotel, recommend.

We think to come back next year for some days

by Prof.Dr.Dr.Wilfried Weber from Berching, Germany, 27 Feb 07

A real nice country style hotel with excellent and friendly service. For friends of Asian food the restaurant is excellent with typical taste and not Western style adapted. Good advices for tourists. City centre is only 15 minutes from the hotel, ruins can be visited by taxi or minibus.
